Obituary for Mary Cook (Kelley)

Pembroke – Mary Edna Kelley Cook, 98, passed away Sunday, July 1, 2018 at Calais Regional Hospital. Mary was born in Pembroke on August 6, 1919, daughter of Izaac and Elmira (Lakin) Kelley.

Mary lived in Pembroke her whole life. She was educated at the Pembroke schools and shortly after, married her love, William “Bill” Cook. Mary was a member of People’s Methodist Church, where she worked for the Guild. She and her husband Bill were a big part of the Legion in Pembroke, where they ran the bingo games and Christmas packaging of treats. Mary prided herself on her homemaking and berry picking, her gardens, and canning for the winter.

In addition to her parents, Mary was predeceased by her beloved husband Bill; her son Billy Wayne Cook; all of her eight brothers and sisters; brother-in-law and sister-in-law; and her daughter-in-law. Surviving are her daughter Joyce of Calais; grandchildren, Rich and family of South Carolina, Bruce of Virginia, Bradley and family of Perry, Judy and family of Calais, Linda and family of Jonesboro, Elaine and family of Holden, Tony and family of Eastport, and Steve of Eastport; and many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, July 6, 2018 at Clarkside Cemetery in Pembroke. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
