Calais – Mary J. Gillespie, 77, passed away Saturday, January 25, 2014 at a Bangor hospital with her loving family by her side. Mary was born in Lewiston on March 21, 1936, daughter of the late Romeo and Gertrude (Doyle) St. Pierre. She graduated from Calais Memorial High School, Class of 1954, and married Lawrence “Larry” Gillespie on April 11, 1955. Mary was a Communicant of Immaculate Conception R.C. Church in Calais and loved dancing with her beloved husband Larry. Her most cherished moments were the times spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her two brothers, Edward and John St. Pierre; and a son-in-law, Donnie Burgess. Surviving are her loving husband of 58 years, Larry Gillespie; four children, Annette Gillespie of Machias, Mary-Jo Burgess of Calais, William Gillespie of Calais, and Michelle Brown and husband Dean of Alexander; several grandchildren and special to her heart, Robert “Robbie” Burgess and wife Jure of Calais, Shane Brown and fiancé Caitlin Wright of Glenburn, and Evan Brown and wife Kristin of Alexander; several great-grandchildren with a special mention to Baylee and Hayden Burgess of Calais, and Leah Brown of Alexander; and several nieces and nephews.
In keeping with Mary’s wishes, services will be private.
