Mary Cook Little

EASTPORT & SIMSBURY, CT - Mary Cook Little, 83, of Simsbury, CT, passed away on August 23, 2012. She was born in Eastport on July 12, 1929, to Faye Cook Oller and graduated from Shead High in 1947. She married Francis “Barney” Little of Pembroke on September 28, 1952. They moved to New York, then settled in Windsor Locks, CT where they lived for 30 years. After Barney retired, they moved back home to Eastport, but did enjoy many winters in Henderson, NV. She especially loved the 4th of July in Eastport and decorating her house for the many family and friends that came home to visit. Mary and Barney had recently moved to Simsbury in order to be closer to their children and grandchildren.
Mary was predeceased by her beloved husband Barney in February of this year. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Wayne and Chris Little of Southbury; her daughter and son-in-law Susan and Steve Shapiro of Simsbury; her four grandsons Jason, Matt and Zachary Little and Spencer Shapiro; her sister Irma Mullen; her brother James “Juddy” Cook and wife Pat; her brother Robert Oller and wife Susie; her “special son” Gary Haugh of Las Vegas, Nevada; her “special daughter” Mary Reale of Windsor; a special cousin who was like a sister Elaine Hall of Eastport; and special friends Helen and Jules Lenard of Windsor.
A graveside service is planned for Columbus Day weekend in Eastport. At her request, memorial donations may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 101 Centerpoint Drive, Suite 107, Middletown, CT 06457.
