Obituary for Mary Elizabeth Reardon

Calais – Mary Elizabeth Reardon, 86, passed away Thursday, November 15, 2012 at Marshall Healthcare in Machias. Mary was born in St. Stephen, NB on November 16, 1925, daughter of the late Arthur and Gladys (Crowell) Hitchings. She graduated from Calais Academy and furthered her education in nursing school. When her husband John Reardon was relocated for work, they moved to Maryland. Eventually they returned home to Calais where she raised her family while working as a registered nurse at Calais Regional Hospital. Mary enjoyed to be in the outdoors and spending time at the family camp on Beaver Lake. She loved all animals, especially her beloved Irish Setters. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband John. Surviving are her six children, John Reardon of Falmouth, Martha Pratt and her husband Jeffrey of Baileyville, Gregory Reardon of Baileyville, Mark Reardon and his wife Beverly of Calais, Nancy McPhee and her husband Richard of Baileyville, and Kathryn Savage and her husband Raymond of Calais; seven grandchildren, Jason Bartlett and his wife Kate of Alaska, Jeffrey Bartlett of Falmouth, Joshua Reardon and his wife Danielle of Eddington, Lucas Reardon and his wife Kristen of Charlotte, Katie Peterson and her husband Kevin of Oxnard, CA, James McPhee and his companion Kimberly Watts of Alaska, and Erica True and her husband William of Farmingdale; and four great-grandchildren, Jack, Addie, Ashton and Ava. In keeping with Mary’s wishes, services will be private. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
