Mavis Melissa Dobriko

Baileyville – Mavis Melissa Dobriko, 92, passed away Thursday, May 2, 2013 at The Cedars in Portland. Mavis was born in Baileyville on October 28, 1920, daughter of the late Chester and Laura (Lund) Hanscom. She was a Communicant of St. James the Greater Church in Baileyville and was a member of the Ladies Sodality. Mavis served as a Trustee and Chairperson for the Woodland Library for 20 years and was a past-member and Past-President of W.T. Wren Post Unit #23 American Legion Auxiliary. She was predeceased by her loving husband Joe Dobriko in 1982; her sisters, Irma Doherty and Leonice Bacon. Surviving are her two sons, Joseph Dobriko and his wife Gail of Scarborough, ME, and Peter Dobriko of Melrose, NY; four grandchildren, Anne and Patricia Dobriko of Cape Elizabeth, ME and Erika and Joseph Dobriko of Melrose, NY; one great-granddaughter, Siobhán Needham of Cape Elizabeth, ME; and a special niece, Jacqueline Atwell and her husband Larry of Charlotte, NC. Visiting hours will be held 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 9, 2013 at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father James Plourde 10 a.m. Friday, May 10, 2013 at St. James the Greater Church in Baileyville. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery.
