Obituary for Maxine Y. Seavey

Alexander – Maxine Y. Seavey, 81, passed away Monday, December 22, 2014 at Calais Regional Hospital. Maxine was born in Waldoboro on August 31, 1933, daughter of the late Walter and Lilly (Holt) Yattaw. On January 1, 1976, Maxine married Howard Pike Seavey in Baileyville. She worked for the Washington County Children’s Program for many years and was awarded the Maine Foster Parent of the Year award in 1987. She was the Past Matron of Orion Chapter #45 Order of the Eastern Star in Calais, and a member of the Alexander Grange for many years. What Maxine enjoyed the most was spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, Maxine was predeceased by a sister Roxanne Yattaw. Surviving are her husband of 38 years, Howard Pike Seavey; daughter Roxanne S. Whitehead and family of Sanford; her son Bradley D. Simmons and family of East Boothbay; “adopted daughter” Tracy A. Stange of Alexander; and her adopted children Linda, Richie, and Michael.

She is also survived by step-children Charles E. Seavey and family of Pennsylvania, Kevin Anne Newell and family of Gardiner, David L. Seavey and family of Washington state, Karen L. Frederick and family of Washington state, and Howard J. Seavey and family of Crawford; two brothers Clifton L. Kincaid and family of Cedaredge, CO, and Burt Brewer and family of Freeport; and a sister Nina Teel and family of Richmond.

A private burial will take place at Alexander Cemetery in the spring. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
