Pleasant Point - Maynard Stanley, 73, passed away Sunday, February 2, 2020 at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. Maynard was born in Eastport, Maine on May 5, 1946, son of John A. and Bertha (Snowe) Stanley.
Maynard was an activist and proudly involved in A.I.M., Wounded Knee, and other American Indian movements. He worked as a police officer at Pleasant Point for many years. He enjoyed taking walks and adored his family, especially his grandchildren.
Maynard was predeceased by his parents, his brother Daniel, and daughters Carol Lee and Ivy; he is survived by his sons Alan of Bangor, ME and Eugene of Henderson, NV; his siblings, Marie, Carol, John, Maxwell, Phillip, Sarah, Linda, Brian and Bennett; his grandchildren, Icysis, Chalise, Aurora, Alan, John, Aisha, and King; many nieces, nephews and close friends.
Visitation will begin 1 p.m. Wednesday, February 5, 2020 until 11 a.m. Friday, February 7, 2020 at Phillip Stanley’s residence, 17 Cemetery Road, Pleasant Point. Following the visitation on Friday, burial will take place in the Pleasant Point Tribal Cemetery. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
