Indian Township – Michael Francis LaCoote Sr., 46, passed away Saturday, October 26, 2019 following a courageous battle with diabetes. Michael was born in Calais on November 6, 1972, son of Basil and Grace (Gabriel) LaCoote.
Michael graduated from Calais High School, Class of 1991, and worked for several years at Creative Apparel. Later he returned to school, earning his Associate’s Degree in Carpentry from Washington County Community College. Most recently he was employed for the Indian Township Housing Authority. Michael enjoyed remodeling and repairing automobiles. He always felt that his greatest accomplishment was being a father. Michael loved spending time with his children and his wife Chevy.
In addition to his parents, Michael was predeceased by a brother Archie LaCoote. Surviving are his beloved wife and best friend Siobhan “Chevy” (Jervis) LaCoote; his six children who he loved dearly, Kelsey LaCoote and companion George Townsend, Michael LaCoote Jr, Gabe LaCoote, Zack LaCoote, Malsom LaCoote, and Jonathan LaCoote; three brothers, Basil LaCoote Jr, Dan LaCoote and wife Stacey, and Stephen LaCoote; two nephews, Dan LaCoote Jr. and Jordan LaCoote; one niece, Leona LaCoote; his Godchild, Mirage White-Sockabasin; numerous dear family and friends; and his two canine companions, Goober and Spike.
Visiting hours will be held at his home, 98 US Route 1, Indian Township, beginning 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 29, 2019 until 12 noon Thursday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Kevin J. Martin 1 p.m. Thursday, October 31st at St. Ann R.C. Church, Indian Township. Burial will follow in the Tribal Cemetery.
