Calais – Michael William Milburn, 61, passed away unexpectedly Monday, January 28, 2013 in Calais. Michael was born in Calais on May 13, 1951, son of the late Alvin and Priscilla (Chambers) Milburn. He attended Woodland High School and worked at Georgia Pacific for one year, and started M&M Contractors, which is now owned and operated by his son. Michael started his law enforcement career in Baileyville where he patrolled for one year until being hired as an officer in Calais. He worked 36 years as a police officer, many of those years he served as the Police Chief in Calais. He retired in 2008. Michael enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing softball for Smokey & The Bandits, and spending time at his camp in Tomah. But most important to Michael were those times spent with his family. He was a former member of the Rotary Club, Calais Lion’s Club, Maine Chiefs of Police Assoc., the Blue Knights, and served on the Calais City Council for two years. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Beverly Milburn. Surviving are his loving wife of 41 years, Lynn (Eales) Milburn of Calais; his two children, Missy Campbell and her husband Bryan of Baileyville, and Michael J.P. Milburn and his wife Aleisha of Calais; one sister Pamela Towns and her husband Charles of Baileyville; three grandchildren, Nathan and Mackenzie Campbell of Baileyville, and Khloe Milburn of Calais; a nephew Christopher Towns of MA; a niece Jamie Romano and her husband Matt of Portland; grandnieces and grandnephew Sophia, Evan and Isabella; and his mother-in-law Katrine Howland of Baileyville. Visiting hours will be held 5-6 p.m. Thursday, January 31, 2013 in the gymnasium at Washington County Community College in Calais. A celebration of Michael’s life will follow the visitation at 6 p.m. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
