Milan Stephen Jamieson Jr., 74, passed away surrounded by family on Thursday, July 20, 2023, at Calais Community Hospital.  Milan was born in Eastport on March 18, 1949, son of Milan and Muriel (Wass) Jamieson Sr.

While in high school in 1967, Milan enlisted in United States Marine Corps where he served as a machine gunner and rifleman during the Vietnam War.  While serving his companies participated in several conflicts, but most notably Operations Mameluke Thrust, Meade River, and Taylor Commons.  He was seriously injured on February 23, 1969. Those injuries ended his military career.  He received a Purple Heart and a Silver Star for his achievements during his time of service.

He returned home in 1969, and he returned to high school in the fall of 1970. He graduated from Pembroke High School in 1971. It was when he went back to high school that he met the love of his life, Romelda. They married on December 11, 1971. After he completed high school, he worked for various companies driving truck until becoming the manager of Marion Transfer Station with his wife Romelda.

Milan was often referred to as the “Mayor of Pembroke,” Milan served as a selectman for Pembroke for over 40 years.  He was a proud member of the American Legion Post 59, Passamaquoddy Memorial Post 11299 V.F.W., Crescent Lodge 78 A.F. & A.M., Anah Temple Shrine, and the Odd Fellows. Milan enjoyed fishing, camping, fireworks, telling jokes, and was an avid coin collector.

In addition to his parents Milan and Muriel, he was predeceased by a sister Marie; brother Fred; and stepfather Burleigh Morrison. Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Romelda Jamieson: his step mother Ingrid Wormell; two children, Kristin Mullen and husband Jonathan of Blue Hill, and Jason Jamieson and fiancé Aimee Morrell of Robbinston; nine grandchildren, Natasha, Jakob, Sarah, Nicole, Ryan, Colby, Wyatt, Caleb, and Evan; four great-grandchildren, Liam, Ellouise, Kolbiegh, and Aurora; siblings Dorothy and husband Roland, Valerie, Stephen, Rocky and wife Gerry, Darlene and husband Michael, Janie, Kathy, and Lewis and fiancée Alba; a special niece Amy Renaud and fiancée Jason; a special person and the mother to his grandsons Monica Jamieson; and his faithful canine companion Maggie.

A celebration of Milan’s Life will be held at 11am on Saturday, July 29th, 2023, at the Pembroke Elementary School, 36 US Route 1, Pembroke. Burial will follow with Military Honors in Clarkside Cemetery. A reception will follow the burial at Pembroke Elementary School.   In lieu of flowers, donations in Milan's memory may be made to the American Legion Post 59 in Pembroke.  Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
