Calais – Muriel Florence Marshall, 89, passed away Friday, June 21, 2013 in Orono surrounded by her family. Muriel was born in Calais on April 29, 1924, daughter of the late Elton and Lucy (Whittle) Howard. On September 16, 1946, she married Freddie Marshall, her lifelong love and companion. Muriel worked as a CNA with Calais Regional Hospital for many years. She was a member of the Goodwill Club and the Calais Seventh-day Adventist Church. Muriel and Freddie always found great joy in spending summers at the family camp on Pleasant Lake and many winter trips to Florida visiting family. She also had a passion for cooking and was known far and wide for her delicious fudge. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by loving husband Freddie in 1998. Surviving are her three children, Pamela Marshall-Pickford and her husband Edward of Orono, Edwin Marshall and his wife Phyllis Ann of Calais, and Dennis Marshall and his wife Jeannine of Calais; four grandchildren, Norman Mallory, Bethany D’Salva and her husband Roman, Janice Marshall, and Melissa Marshall; two great-granddaughters, Josie and Ava; two sisters, Pauline Thompson and Freda Hill and her husband Gerald; one brother Elton Howard; special cousins Jean and John Wood and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Muriel’s life will be held 1:00 p.m., Monday, June 24th at the Calais Seventh-day Adventist Church, 8 Chapel St., Calais. Burial will follow in the Calais Cemetery.
