Naomi Spencer

Eastport – Naomi Rutherford Spencer, 96, passed away on Wednesday, September 09, 2009 at the Eastport Memorial Nursing Home. Naomi was born in Eastport on April 8, 1913, daughter of the late Byron and Janie (Malloch) Rutherford. She graduated from Shead Memorial High School, Class of 1930, and went on to graduate from Nasson College where she received her degree in Dietetics. On February 19, 1945, she married Forrest Spencer in Cambridge, MA. Shortly after, they moved to New York where Naomi worked in various hospitals as a dietician. After her retirement, she moved back to Eastport in the early 1990’s. In addition to her parents, Naomi was predeceased by her husband Forrest; and a son Byron Spencer. Surviving are her son Jan Spencer and his wife Cynthia of Imperial Beach, CA; four grandsons; one granddaughter; and nine great-grandchildren. In staying with Naomi’s wishes, there will be no services. Naomi will be laid to rest beside her husband Forrest at Bayside Cemetery in Eastport.
