Obituary for Norma Irene Brooks

Robbinston – Norma I. (Dwelley) Brooks passed away Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Calais Regional Hospital. Norma was born in Princeton on August 18, 1930, daughter of the late Neal and Ruth (Dean) Dwelley. She graduated from Calais High School in June of 1948. Norma married Clifton Brooks on April 26, 1950 and they settled on the current homestead. She was a dedicated homemaker devoted to her family and their welfare. Norma was a hard worker engaged in all the work required of all farm families and in addition to these commitments, she found the time to complete the Certified Nurse’s Training Course and worked many years at Barnard’s Nursing Home and Calais Regional Hospital. She still found time to plant and enjoy her flower gardens. Norma also enjoyed knitting and crocheting afghans for all her children’s families and her grandchildren. One of the highlights of her life was the motor home trip to Canada and up to the Alaska Marine Ferry System, touring the entire state of Alaska in the summer of 1978.

In addition to her parents, Norma was predeceased by a sister, Constance (Dwelley) Flemming. Surviving are her husband of 66 years, Clifton V. Brooks; her sons, Martin Brooks and companion Brenda Clement, Brian Brooks, and Barry Brooks and wife Diane “Dee”, all of Robbinston; her grandchildren, Robert Brooks of Robbinston, Melissa Brooks of Bangor, and Shauna Brooks of Hudson; two brothers, Bryce Dwelley and companion Connie of Robbinston, and Embert Dwelley and wife Lois of Cheshire, CT; a sister-in-law Janet Dwelley of Princeton; and many nieces and nephews.

In keeping with Norma’s wishes, there will be no services. Those who wish may make a donation in Norma’s memory to the American Heart Assoc., or a charity of your choice. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
