Calais & Baileyville – Norman R. Kneeland, 77, died on April 11, 2010 at his home with his wife and family by his side. Norman was born on August 9, 1932 in Princeton to Norris and Elizabeth (Shirley) Kneeland. He attended the local schools and married Ida Barnard on October 23, 1952. Norman worked in Baileyville for over 30 years at the pulp and paper mill. Norman enjoyed hunting and fishing, woodworking, antiquing, painting, poetry and was a big Red Sox fan; he loved playing his guitar but most of all he enjoyed gatherings with his family. In addition to his parents Norman was predeceased by his granddaughter, Jennifer Kneeland. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Ida; his 6 children, Dale Kneeland and his wife Betsey of Alexander, Norman Kneeland and his wife Ella of Baileyville, Cindy Bailey of Bangor, Bonny Slater and her husband Andrew of Calais, Cheryl Amber and her husband Robert of Baileyville and David Kneeland and his wife Jennie of Baileyville; a special friend Bradley Bailey; a sister, Shirley Seavey and her husband Neal of Crawford; a brother Norris “Bud” Kneeland and his wife Barbara of Baileyville; 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Friends may call from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 14th at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 15, 2010 at St. James The Greater R.C. Church in Baileyville; a graveside service will follow at Woodland Cemetery, Baileyville.
