Baring – Norman Thomas Noddin, 77, passed away Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at his home with his loving family by his side. Norman was born in Milltown, ME on August 20, 1935, son of the late Thomas E. Noddin and Lela S. (O’Neill) Noddin. He joined the U.S. Air Force, serving as an airplane mechanic during the Korean War. Following the war, Norman worked as a police officer for the City of Calais, and as a millwright for Georgia Pacific for 10 years. He eventually became a partner in REN Construction where he worked until his retirement in 1997. Norman was a Past Master of St. Croix Lodge No. 46 A.F. & A.M. in Calais and a member of the Anah Shriners. He enjoyed the outdoors and harvested his own trees to build his home in Baring, as well as his camp on Cathance Lake. Norman loved hunting, fishing, gardening, reading, Sudoku puzzles, playing solitaire on his computer, helping at Bingo in Baileyville for the Masonic lodge, but above all he loved spending time with his family at his camp. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Thomas I. Noddin. Surviving are his devoted wife of 56 years Patricia (Wahl) Noddin; his daughter Katherine Noddin and her companion James Lavoie of Old Town; two grandchildren, Thomas Graffam and his wife Heather of Milford, and Jennifer Graffam and her companion Drew Murphy of Milford; one sister, Barbara Robinson and her husband Kip of Machias; sister-in-law Sally Bartlett and her husband George of St. John, NB; and many nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Monday, November 19, 2012 at Baring Cemetery. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
