Obituary for Norris Harvey Kneeland

Baileyville – Norris H. Kneeland, 83, passed away Thursday, November 6, 2014 at a Bangor hospital. Bud was born in Baileyville on August 6, 1931, son of the late Norris P. and Elizabeth (Shirley) Kneeland. After graduating from Woodland High School he worked in the woods until entering the U.S. Army, serving as an instructor in Okinawa during the Korean War. Following the war Bud returned home and married his love, Barbara Sawyer, on August 15, 1953. Together they moved to Connecticut where he worked for Pratt & Whitney. Bud also worked on the power lines in Virginia and for a sign company in Connecticut as a rigger until they moved back to Baileyville where he began his career as a steam plant operator with Georgia Pacific, retiring in 1993. He was a member and Past Master of Lewey’s Island Lodge #138 A.F. & A.M. in Princeton, St. Croix Chapter #17 Royal Arch in Calais, Hugh De Payens Commandery #15 in Calais, Anah Temple Shrine of Bangor, Schoodic Shrine Club, Sherman Bros. Post #3 American Legion, and the Quarter Century Club at Georgia Pacific. Bud loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, and crosswords.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a brother, Norman Kneeland. Surviving are his loving wife Barbara Kneeland of Baileyville; two sons, Thomas Kneeland and wife Debra of South Princeton, and Alan Kneeland and wife Diane of Woodland; a sister Shirley Seavey and husband Neil of Crawford; five grandchildren, Bronson Kneeland of Hampden, Tyson Kneeland of Corinth, Ashlee Arsenault of Hampden, Lisa Potter and husband Adam of Windham, Chad Kneeland and wife Whitney of Deltona, FL; four great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Ellie, Nathaniel, and Addisyn; and several nieces and nephews.

In keeping with Bud’s wishes, there will be no services. Donations in his memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
