CHARLOTTE- Patricia Marilyn (Townsend) Bridges, 78, passed away Friday, October 17, 2014 at home, in the arms of her family after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Marion on July 19, 1936, daughter of Jeanette and Clarence Townsend. Patricia graduated from Shead Memorial High School in 1953 and enjoyed an early career as Payroll Clerk at Guilford Woolen Mills.
Many will remember Patricia as shopkeeper at Nature’s Pantry for many years. She counted her customers as friends and it always brightened her day to see them while she was out and about.
Afternoons spent "ramming the roads" with her pals, sisters Pansy Newman and Dorothy Young
were the best!
A devoted mom, she was very proud of both of her daughters and all of their accomplishments.
She is survived by her husband Charles A. Bridges and her two daughters Rebecca Bridges and Vivian Blatt and son-in-law Greg Blatt. She is also survived by brothers Wallace Townsend and Joseph Townsend and sisters Alice Craig and Muriel Edwards. And many many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers Rodney, Anthony and Arthur Townsend and sisters Constance Barnes, Dorothy Young, Pansy Newman, Florence Ashby, Mary Glidden and Ruby Townsend.
Patricia loved nature and had a green thumb. In her memory, plant something, encourage something already planted or thank a bee for its hard work as you walk by.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at 2 p.m. at Mays Funeral Home – Flagg Chapel, 72 High Street, Eastport.
