COOPER – Patricia R. Green, 78, passed away peacefully early Thursday morning, November 1, 2012 in Machias. Patricia was born on November 29, 1933 to John and Elizabeth (Smith) Baker in Port Chester, NY where she grew up and attended Port Chester High School, graduating class of 1951. She stayed and worked for some time after high school before moving north to Pawling, NY with Frank Green; the man she married on February 5, 1956 in Port Chester. It was in Pawling where they made their home, raised their four children and became active members in the community. Patricia worked for insurance companies and attorney’s offices in Pawling before she took a position with The Peale Foundation for Christian Living. She managed the correspondence department where founder and pastor, Dr. Norman Vincent Peale received communications from across the country and the world in response to his inspirational Christian books and radio programs. Patricia and Frank enjoyed visiting Maine where they purchased vacation property in Cooper in 1977 and eventually moved full time in 1997. She quickly integrated into the community; she loved to volunteer, she helped with the food banks, Meals for Maine, she assisted Santa Claus when he would make appearances for the families of the local National Guard and she was very active at St. Anne’s Episcopal Church in Calais where she was also a member. Patricia was a member of the Grange in Pawling before transferring to the local Cooper Grange. She enjoyed canning foods, cooking and knitting mittens for the local school children. In addition to her parents, Patricia was predeceased by an infant granddaughter, Kelly Green in 1994 and her sister, Mary Ann Baker in 1950. Survivors include her husband of almost 57 years, Frank Green; three daughters, Mary Ann Griffin and her husband, James of Southbury, CT, Kathleen Green of Petersburgh, NY and Eileen White and her husband Joseph of Cos Cob, CT; son, James Green and grandson, Jason Green, both of Roseville, CA; sister, Elizabeth Baker of Palm Springs, CA; two nephews, Douglas Green and Thomas Green and his wife Jen and two great nieces Amanda and Casey Green, all of Upper Darby, PA. Pat will be sadly missed by all who knew her. A memorial service will be held 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 5th at St. Anne’s Episcopal Church, 29 Church St., Calais with Rev. Alice Downs officiating.
