Calais – Patricia Phyllis Tocchio, 82, passed away Sunday, September 28, 2014 at a Bangor area nursing home. Pat was born in St. Stephen, NB on August 20, 1932, daughter of the late Thomas and Mary “Molly” (Burns) Hogue. She graduated from St. Stephen High School, Class of 1950, and from Holy Rosary Commercial College in 1951. Pat moved to Toronto and worked as a secretary for ten years. She then relocated to Cape Cod, MA, where she worked in the hospitality industry, as well as in California, Florida, and Michigan. While in Cape Cod she married E. Michael Tocchio in 1973. Following Mike’s retirement, they moved to Calais. After Pat’s uncle died in 1985 they took over his store, Andrews Tobacco Stand and Dairy Bar. They eventually moved the store to Whitney Street and renamed it Pat’s Dairy Bar. Pat retired and sold her business in 2012.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband E. Michael Tocchio; a sister Kathleen Booth; and a brother Douglas Hogue. Surviving are a special cousin, Webber Burns of St. Stephen, NB; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Rob Lupo 11 a.m. Friday, October 3, 2014 at Immaculate Conception R.C. Church in Calais. A luncheon will follow the service and a graveside committal service will take place 2 p.m. in the St. Stephen Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
