Paul Foster Cavanaugh

CALAIS – Paul F. Cavanaugh, 72, passed away on February 25, 2011 after a second brief battle with cancer. Paul was born in Oneida, NY on March 10, 1938, the son of Herbert and Helen Cavanaugh. He graduated from Oneida High School class of 1956. In addition to his parents, Paul was predeceased by his brother, Walter and his daughter-in-law, Diane. He is survived by his oldest son, Paul and grandchildren, Sean, Ryan, Meaghan and Kaitlan; his youngest son, Bill and his wife Christa and grandchildren, Seth and Catherine; also the mother of his sons, Sally; and a special friend, Carol O’Reilly. Dad was one of the first paramedics in the State and lived all over Maine. He enjoyed riding his Goldwing, and with friends visited ever state east of the Mississippi River. He moved to Calais Methodist Homes in 2010 to be near some of his grandchildren where he made some very special friends. He was briefly admitted to Calais Regional Hospital before he moved to Atlantic Rehab & Nursing Center on February 16, 2011. He received excellent treatment and attention while there and his family is very thankful to all that helped as things got worse. At his request he will be cremated and there will be no services. Arrangements are in the care of Mays Funeral Home, Calais.
