Paul Lewis Kneeland Sr.

Calais – Paul Lewis Kneeland Sr., 76, passed away Saturday, December 26, 2009. Paul was born in Calais on June 12, 1933, son of the late Vinal and Grace (McCoubrey) Kneeland. He graduated Calais High School, Class of 1951. Paul worked for Beckett & Co., Home Radio Store and the Calais Police Department as a police officer until he started his career with Georgia Pacific. On June 30, 1953, he married Stella Fitch in Princeton. Paul also served in the Army National Guard in Calais for several years. His career at Georgia Pacific was ended early when he was seriously injured in 1976. In the younger years, Paul enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and hunter. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Paul Kneeland Jr.; his brother Philip Kneeland; and his sister Beulah Kneeland. Surviving are his loving wife of 56 years, Stella Kneeland of Calais; three children, Michael Kneeland and his wife Lisa of Clinton, Deborah Polk and her husband Richard of Springfield, MO, and Barbara Davenport and her husband Gary of Virginia Beach, VA; daughter-in-law Kathy Francis of Calais; sister-in-law Marian Kneeland of Dexter; eleven grandchildren, Jeremy Kneeland and his fiancé Christina of Whitefish, MT, Katy Potter and her husband Wayne of Virginia Beach, VA, Aaron Kneeland and his wife Shawn of Big Fork, MT, Abbie Kneeland of Clinton, Terri Mumme and her husband Jake of Perry, Andrew Spear and his wife Alissa, Kelly Croom and her husband Jamar, Stephanie Campbell and her husband Robert of Baileyville, and Adam, Carissa and Kayle Davenport, all of Virginia Beach, VA; fifteen great-grandchildren; two nephews, Ernest and Philip Kneeland; his canine companion Saddie; and his two feline companions, Ivy and Baby.
