Paul Leslie Redding, 90, passed away Friday, March 8th at Calais Regional Hospital. Paul was born on October 27, 1933, the son of Paul and Grace (Burns) Redding.

After graduating from Calais High School, Paul served his country in the U.S. Air Force as a Military Police Officer and was a lifetime member of the Calais American Legion.

In 1951, Paul married the love of his life, Barbara Jean Miles. They were blessed with five children – Dana, Michael, Paula, Jeffrey, and Donna.

Paul worked as a customs Broker for more than 30 years. Paul enjoyed playing bass guitar with bands on both sides of the border as well as playing all kinds of sports. Paul especially enjoyed playing softball with his children

Paul’s biggest joy in life was his extraordinary ability to create amazing charcoal drawings. His use of charcoal for his portraits of family and friends in the community and abroad was truly exemplary.

In addition to his parents. Paul was predeceased by his special Grandmother, Jesse Burns, first wife Barbara Jean Miles Redding and his second wife Marilyn, his daughter-in-law Laverne Redding, half-sister Hilda and sister-in-law Donna Mingo.

Paul is survived by his five children Dana Redding, Michael Redding, Jeffrey Redding & wife Mary-Jean, Paula Hill and companion Alan Applebee, Donna Redding and friend Cheryl Childs, half-sister Betty Hornbrook, 10 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, brother-in-law Alden Mingo and family, Roxanne Redding, and John Hill.

A Celebration of Paul's life will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, March 23rd, 2024 at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais. Burial will follow in the Calais Cemetery.  Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Paul to the Calais Little League.
