Paul Joseph Sabattus, 43, passed away Monday, March 18th, 2024, surrounded by family, at his home due to health complications. Paul was born in Calais on July 9th, 1980, son of Gerry and Karen (Bosien) Sabattus.
Paul graduated from Calais High School , Class of 1998, and earned his electrical degree from Washington County Community College. His career as a journeyman electrician led Paul throughout New England. Paul was very active throughout the community and has always supported his children in every sport or activity any of them were involved. He most recently helped coach basketball and he was also a member of Downeast Wrestling Club for many years.
Paul and his wife Jillian were absolute best friends. They did everything together, which often included lots of laughter and even a prank here and there. He also loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, camping and traveling. He also loved music, concerts, his video games and his board games, and he loved anything and everything Star Wars. Above everything Paul was most proud to be a devoted husband and amazing father and any time spent with his family was exactly where he wanted to be.
Paul was predeceased by his father Gerry Sabattus, and his grandparents Ken & Isabel Boise’n, and Betty Moreside, as well as a special friend Matt Doten. Surviving are his wife & best friend Jillian (Higgins) Sabattus, his mother Karen Sabattus of Calais; six children Caleb, Ryland, and Hayden Sabattus, all of Charlotte, and Aidon, Baylee, and Brynlee Benson, all of Calais; his sister Jennifer Cassidy and husband Matt of North Yarmouth; nieces and nephews, Sam, Kelsey, and Amelia; many cousins; his extended family on his wife’s side that have come to know and love him, Barb & Jarod, Finley & Toni, Fred & Rose, Brett, Greg, and many more; many special friends, Pat, Justin, BJ, Smokey, Stan, Tony, Bolton, Kristi & Joe, Jerry J. and many more; and his faithful canine companions Poe & Bubbles, and feline companions, Chewy and Ash.
A celebration of Paul’s life will be held at a later date. Arrangements made by Mays funeral home Calais & Eastport.
