Paul Moyer Westbrook, 75, passed away Sunday, April 23, 2023, at his home with his daughter by his side. Paul was born in Albany, New York, on December 24, 1947, son of Perry Dickie Westbrook and Myrtle Moyer.
After graduating from Clayton A. Bouton High School in Voorheesville, NY, Class of 1965, Paul earned his bachelor’s degree in Geological Engineering from Colorado School of Mines. During the Vietnam War, he served in the U.S. Coast Guard in North Carolina, Virginia, and Guam. Following his service, Paul worked as a railroad engineer throughout New England until 1980 when he started his career as a Mining and Development Engineer, a position he held until his retirement in 2008. Throughout his life, Paul was fortunate to have lived in various place, including India, New England, Arizona, Indonesia, Peru, Alaska, Montana, and Nevada.
Paul was a history buff and historical philanthropist, most recently working with The Friends of Sutro Tunnel in Dayton, Nevada. In addition to history, he enjoyed hiking, gardening, and in his younger years, Spelunking.
Paul was predeceased by his father Perry Dickie Westbrook in 1997; mother Myrtle Moyer in 1995; sister Emily Westbrook in 2002; and a son Christopher Westbrook in 2007.
Surviving are his daughters Madelyn Westbrook of Machiasport, ME, and April Westbrook and granddaughter Jackie Goodrich of Kelseyville, CA; sister Anne Dominick of Madison, ME; and stepmother Arlen Westbrook of Delmar, NY.
