Obituary for Pauline M Golicki

Baring – Pauline M. Golicki, 89, passed away Thursday, June 13, 2013 at Calais Regional Hospital. Pauline was born in Little Falls, NY on September 9, 1923, daughter of the late Edward and Anna (Kolkowski) Mazurski. She was raised on the family dairy farm and graduated from Little Falls High School, Class of 1940. On May 17, 1947, Pauline married her love, Stephen Golicki.

Pauline held various jobs including working at Allegro Shoe Factory and during WWII working as a stitcher making Army tents. Following the death of her husband Stephen Golicki in 1969, she obtained her License Practical Nurse’s licenses and worked for Herkimer Memorial Hospital for over 30 years. She retired in the 1990’s and along with her daughter Susan Leone, moved to Baring. While in Maine she worked at the Calais Boarding Home and Atlantic Rehab.

Pauline was an active member of the Cathance Grange where she was elected Flora the night before she passed. She was the Chaplain for Washington County Pomona Grange and enjoyed word search, reading, cooking, dancing the Polka, telling jokes, watching Dr. Phil and the news, playing cards, listening to country music, especially Willie Nelson, sewing, crocheting, and taking care of her many feline companions. Her most precious memories were those surrounded by her family.

In addition to her parents she was predeceased by two sisters, Blanche and Stella; and a son-in-law Joseph Leone. Surviving are three children, Patricia Kelly and her husband Thomas of Williamsburg, VA, Barbara Guiffre and her husband Joseph of Herkimer, NY, and Susan Leone of Baring; nine grandchildren, Kevin, Justin, and Colin Kelly, Joseph, Stephen, and Jamie Guiffre, and Suzanne, Stephen, and Charissa Leone; two great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and her many feline friends.

Visiting hours will be held 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Sunday, June 16, 2013 at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Rob Lupo 10 a.m. Monday, June 17, at Immaculate Conception R.C. Church in Calais. Pauline will be laid to rest beside her loving husband Stephen at Calvary Cemetery in Herkimer, NY.
