Peggy passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family, on May 8th, 2024, at the age of 67. Peggy was a proud Junction Girl with a huge heart. She was a single mother who worked multiple jobs to provide for her children and anyone they dragged home. Peggy worked for many years at the Frank N. Beckett Center with adults with disabilities. She loved those guys; in turn, they treasured her.
Peggy was selfless. Her heart was big, and she loved hard. She always had a house full of kids, whether it was her own children or the strays they brought home, including her nieces, nephews, and her four surrogate girls, Ashly, Cody, Casey, and Erin Shirley. (These girls were with her from birth till the very end of her illness.) Peggy always welcomed and cherished them all. However, her absolute favorites were her grandchildren, Braden and Jayme. Peggy wasn't the typical Gram; instead, Braden and Jayme considered her to be "A best friend!" She would jump into swamps, catch frogs with them, and dig for worms beside them. She made many of their most cherished childhood memories. After the loss of her beloved son, Jamie, her heart was shattered, but those babies came at the best time possible. They were the ones who made
her see the light again.
Peggy didn't require fancy material things. She was in her element at the lake with Buzzy, family, and friends. Peggy had many lifelong friends who were very special to her: Tonya, Jody, and Lori, although her closest and most special friend was Jean Shirley. They would refer to her as being "a one-of-a-kind!" She will always be known as a Wife, Mother, Favorite Aunt, and Best Friend.
Peggy was predeceased by her firstborn son, Jamie Dean, Parents Cecil and Shirley Cox, baby brother, Stevie Cox, and niece, Missy Cox. She is survived by her partner of 30+ years. Alton (Buzzy) Seavey, Son Davey Dean, Daughter Wendy & Bruce Barrett. Two very special grandchildren, Braden & Jayme Barrett. Brother Donnie & wife Gayla Cox (Stevie, Angel & Kyler), all from Baileyville, and Sister Linda & husband Rodney Perkins (Cory, Terry & Stephanie) of Virginia. Mother and father-in-law, Jean & Bill Kravas. Sister-in-laws Penny & George Cross, Lori & Jeff Diadone, and Dawn & Mike Lingle. Bonus siblings, a sister, Debbie Casey, brothers Fred & Ernie Casey, and the late Bobby Casey, all of Connecticut.
At Peggy's request, she wants something other than traditional services. She requested a Celebration of Life Party at her favorite place on earth, Gooseneck, Meddybemps Lake. The family will keep you updated on the date and time of this event.
Ashly, Cody, Casey & Erin Shirley, you're all so very loved by her and Buzzy. Jean, you meant the world to her and still mean so much to her family. Thank You!
