Obituary for Percy Elwood Priest

Pembroke – Percy E. Priest, 90, husband of the late Dorothy Priest, passed away at Maine Veterans Home in Bangor on Wednesday, February 26, 2014. He was born on December 12, 1923 in Milford, the son of the late Percy and Vera (Braun) Priest.

Percy was a WWII veteran, having served in the US Marine Corps in the Pacific Theater. He returned home to Milford where on April 6, 1946 he married Dorothy Seymour. They were married for 65 years prior to her death in 2011. Percy was a lineman for the Bangor Hydro Electric Company and worked for them for over 30 years, many of those years out of the Eastport division. Percy and Dorothy moved their family to Pembroke in 1956 and that became their home and where they raised their family.

Percy was a Past Master of Crescent Lodge No. 78 A.F. & A.M. in Pembroke, a lifetime member and Past High Priest of Royal Arch, as well as a member of the George Washington Lodge No. 23 Independent Order of Odd Fellows in Pembroke. Percy enjoyed many hobbies along with caring for the many animals that became a part of the household and watching his children and then his grandchildren grow to adulthood and have families.

Percy leaves his three children, Valerie Patch and husband Richard of Bangor, Brian Priest and wife Lisa of Pembroke, and Rhonda Stevens and husband Travis of Pembroke. He also leaves his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Ryan Priest and wife Sabrina and their children Eric, Kodie and Bree-Anna, Lisa Leighton and husband Chris and their children Kelly, Wyatt, and Samantha, Jennifer Doyle and husband Larry and their children Jacob and Logan, Nicole Armstrong and husband Anson and their daughter Madison, and Adam Fenderson; step-grandchildren, Angela Francis and Brenda Francis and her children Jordan and Katana. Percy also leaves two sisters Gail St. Louis of Old Town, and Zelda McGowan of Aberdeen, WA; and a brother Francis Priest of Lynnhaven, FL; sister-in-law Louise Johnston of Milford; as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Maine Veterans Home in Bangor for their incredible care and support during his illness.

A graveside service will be held in the spring at Clarkside Cemetery in Pembroke.
