Charlotte – Ralph Albert Gower, 59, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, November 11, 2010 at a Bangor hospital with his children by his side. Ralph was born in Calais on November 9, 1951, son of the late Lewis and Jean (Reynolds) Gower. After attending local schools, he became a mechanic for Chet’s Transport in Charlotte. Ralph was a member of Operating Engineers Local 4 and worked at Seabrook Station in New Hampshire. As many of his friends and family would agree, he enjoyed disagreeing just for sake of an argument. In addition to his parents, Ralph was predeceased by his brother Kenneth Reynolds. Surviving are his two children, Jamey Gower and his wife Jessica of Charlotte and Kristen Gower and her companion Lucas Reardon of Charlotte; two sisters, Ruth Spencer and her husband Ronald of Howland and Barbara McLay and her husband Norman of Moores Mills, NB; four grandchildren, Kade, Zachary, Jacob and Jesse Gower; several nieces and nephews; and his faithful canine companion Brownie. Visiting hours will be held 6 – 8 p.m. Sunday, November 14, at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais. A celebration of Ralph’s life will be held 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with Ernest James officiating. Burial will follow in Round Pond Cemetery, Charlotte.
