Eastport – Raymond G. Craig, 75, died Sunday, April 13, 2008 at Calais Regional Hospital. Raymond was born in Perry on October 26, 1932, son to the late James and Betty (Sullivan) Craig. He graduated from Shead Memorial High School, Class of 1950. After graduating, Raymond entered the US Army, serving with the 101 Airborne Division, Co. B 76th Tank Co. during the Korean Conflict. Returning home, Raymond worked for the Maine Central Rail Road, the Mearl Corp. and then Federal Marine, retiring in 1996. He was a member of the Fred Mitchell Post #11 American Legion in Eastport, serving as Second Vice Commander. Raymond enjoyed fishing, hunting, animals, and taking care of the deer herds in Eastport. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Phillip Craig. Surviving are his loving wife Doris (Foley) Craig; a special stepson, Stephen "Dougy" DeWitt of Eastport; three sisters, Marilyn Trott of Perry, Elizabeth “Betty” Bailey of Pleasant Point, and Kathy Lawrence and her husband Billy of Eastport; three brothers, Stanwood Craig and his wife Margie of R.I., Richard Craig and his wife Patricia of Eastport, and James Craig and wife Rena of Eastport; two special grandchildren, Stephen DeWitt and Kristy DeWitt of Pleasant Point; many other stepchildren, grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, April 24, 2008 at Hillside Cemetery, Eastport.
