Indian Township – Reggie “Ragu” Newell, 55, died Tuesday, August 5, 2008 at Calais Regional Hospital. Ragu was born in Indian Township on July 2, 1953. Reggie was a self employed wood cutter. He enjoyed moose hunting, gambling, scratch tickets, and spending time in the outdoors. Ragu was predeceased by his mother, Juanita Newell; his grandmother, Frances Newell; a sister, Rose Marie Newell; and uncle, Franklin Newell; and an aunt, Irene Dana. Surviving are his three children, Eric Bacon, Nara Newell, and Bridgette Newell; 4 grandchildren, Nathan, Ryan, Daniel and Aurora; a brother, Darrell Newell and his wife Pamela; an aunt, who was like a mother, Charlotte Glover; two nieces, Yolanda Neptune and Nakia Dana and her husband Matthew Jr.; a nephew, Anthony Newell; best friends, Alex Tomah and his companion Alta Brown; all of Indian Township; and many cousins and friends. Friends may call starting at 12 noon on Thursday, August 7, until 9 a.m. Saturday at the home of Charlotte Glover, 4 South Eagle Point Rd., Indian Township. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Frank Morin 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Ann Parish, Peter Dana Point. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais and Eastport.
