Reid W. EmeryEastport – Reid Wilder Emery, 61, died unexpectedly Tuesday, January 1, 2008. Reid was born in Eastport, March 3, 1946, son of the late Maxwell and Roberta Emery. He graduated from Shead High School, Class of 1964. After graduation, Reid entered the Army National Guard, serving for 6 years. He moved to Connecticut and worked for a short time with Pratt & Whitney. Reid returned back to Easport where he worked for Guilford Industries for over 20 years, and a brief time as a police officer for the City of Eastport. Reid married Margaret Hicks on September 26, 1970 in Eastport. After the fire at Guilford Industries, Reid worked for The Mearl Corp, Ocean Products, and finally with Raye’s Mustart Mill. He was a former member of the Knights of Pythias and the Calais Rod & Gun Club. Reid enjoyed making knives, R/C planes, building boat models, fishing and boating on Cathance Lake and Boyden Lake. Surviving are his loving wife of over 37 years, Margaret Emery; two sons, Chris and his wife Moka of Perry and Mark and his wife Shannon of Eastport; two sisters, Sally Emery and her husband Edward and Peggy Segien and her husband Ronnie, all of Eastport; three wonderful grandchildren that he loved dearly, Garret, Ian, and Rachel; and many nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held in the summer at Bayside Cemetery in Eastport. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Eastport & Calais.
