Plantation 21 – On Saturday, December 13, 2008, Rena I. Kneeland, 82, passed away peacefully at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor surrounded by her loving family. Rena was born in Alexander on August 24, 1926, the daughter of Grace MacArthur. She attended schools in Princeton and Alexander. Rena was employed for over 20 years as a school bus driver for Baileyville and Princeton, and a substitute driver for Waite, Talmadge and Grand Lake Stream. She loved the job and the children, and was over 70 when she retired. Rena held many jobs over the years including sewing for Ware Knitters and Hathaways in Calais. Her last employment was for Video 2000 in Princeton. Rena served as town clerk for many years and worked for the State of Maine registering vehicles from her home. She loved crafts. Rena loved to sew and knit, but her first love was crocheting. She always felt there was nothing she couldn’t do if she set her mind to it and she proved it many times. Above all, Rena loved her family. She was a loving and dedicated mother and grandmother, and a loving loyal friend to many. Rena was predeceased by her mother; her husband, George S. Kneeland; her beloved Aunt Nettie and Uncle Mel Hunnewell; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Rena is survived by her three children, Jeanette Dwelley and husband Orland of Big Lake Township 21, Gerti Blackwell of Port Neches, Texas, and George L. Kneeland of Princeton; two grandsons, John McGovern and wife Jo Ann of Baileyville and Michael McGovern, currently serving in Iraq, and wife Jennifer of Eddington; a granddaughter, Jacqueline; eleven great-grandchildren, Chelsey, Marissa, Michael, Joshua, Chloe, Andrew, Jasmine, Brittany, Jeremy, Haley and Melissa. Rena is also survived by her very special friends, Ruth Damon and family, Theresa and Donnie Wright, Francis Bohanon, Eileen Newman, Elsie and Andrew Cunningham, Claudette Roussel, Kay Church, Lisa and John Bertinelli, Mark and Wesla Ranalli, Claudette and David Landon, Juanita Pantenella, Margo Gower, and all of her friends from Indian Township and Peter Dana Point, and others too numerous to mention. She will also be missed by her faithful companion, Toby.
