Calais – Richard Arthur Chisholm, 76, passed away Thursday, March 8, 2018 surrounded by his family at Calais Regional Hospital. Richard was born in Calais on February 25, 1942, son of Arthur and Marion (Kyle) Chisholm.
Richard was a proud native of Red Beach, where he lived for many years. Upon graduating from Calais High School, Class of 1960, he joined the Navy, serving until 1964. Richard returned to Maine and became a Respiratory Therapist, being employed for Calais Regional Hospital for many years. He was also active in the Maine Army National Guard, retiring with the rank of Sergeant. Richard loved history and sharing his vast knowledge of it. He was also a talented artist. Richard was a member of Calais Fire Department, Red Beach Co, for over 20 years.
In addition to his parents, Arthur and Marion of Red Beach, Richard was predeceased by a special brother-in-law, William Pulk Sr. Surviving are his daughter, Jill Clark and husband Thomas Sr. (T.J.); his grandchildren Thomas and Ava, who were the apple of his eye; sisters Sandra Pulk of Robbinston, and Bonnie Lyons and husband Bob of Red Beach; nieces and nephews, Penny Johnson and husband Gerry, Tobbie Ackley and husband Jason, Bobby Lyons and wife Rhonda, Billy Pulk and wife Rhonda, and Brent Lyons and companion Keri; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and his former spouse Sharron Chisholm.
Visiting hours will be held 12 noon until 2 p.m. Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais. A celebration of Richard’s life will begin 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow at Red Beach Cemetery.
