PLEASANT POINT – On June 18, 2014 Richard “Moe” Allen Lewey, 56, went home to be with the Lord. Moe was born November 3, 1957 in Eastport, the son of the late Sabattus Sr. and Irene Lewey. He attended Shead Memorial High School then went on to work as a dispatcher for almost 20 years with the Pleasant Point Police Department. He also worked several years with Gate Fiber Extrusions in Eastport. Moe was a diehard Red Sox fan; he loved the outdoors, was a dedicated Pony League coach with the young adults of Pleasant Point for many years and enjoyed every minute spent with his family. He was spiritual, loved his culture in so many ways and was a proud Passamaquoddy Warrior. Moe is survived by his two sons, Cory S. Newell and Nicholas Newell; three grandchildren, who he loved so dearly, Timothy “TT”, Zoey and a “grandson to be” Caleb Moses; sisters, Jan, Gloria, Catha, Sandra and Evelyn; brothers, Carleton, Sabattus Jr., Dennis, George, Thomas, Robert, Michael Sr, Jimmy, Walter, Paul and their husbands, wives and significant others; many nieces and nephews including two special nieces Kimberly Neptune and Linda Stanley; Godchildren, Aboluwes and Faith Ann and a dear friend Rocky. He will also be remembered by two special friends, Molly and Birda Newell. In addition to his parents, Moe was predeceased by his aunts, Edna Soup Gabriel, Mary Lou Tomah, Angela Barnes and Mary C. Lola who he cherished every moment with and his very special cousin Peter “BL” Francis who he looked forward to joining on annual fishing trips on the Passamaquoddy Bay. Visitation will be held at Moe’s home, 75 Passamaquoddy Rd., Pleasant Point at noon on Saturday, June 21st until 9:30 a.m. Monday morning. Mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 23rd at St. Anne’s Church, Pleasant Point. Interment will be at a later date.
