Perry - Rita J. Morrison, 82, died September 2, 2015, at her home in Perry. She was born 14 January, 1933, in Pembroke, daughter of Thomas W. and Margaret (Garland) Morgan. Rita was a graduate of Pembroke High School and Husson College. After graduation, she worked with Beacon Finance Company in Bangor.
On December 13, 1958, Rita married Maynard C. Morrison, and they made their home at the Morrison homestead on the Shore Road in Perry. She continued to use her business accum by supporting and growing her husband’s fishing business, providing accounting services to local businesses, and enjoyed doing personal income taxes for anyone who would ask. Rita was treasurer of the Women’s Fellowship and taught Sunday School at the Perry Congregational Church. She served as municipal elections ballot clerk for many years for the Town of Perry. Rita enjoyed living the simple life on their small farm, her vegetable gardens, sharing the fruits of her labors with family and friends, canning and preserving, and found peace and happiness through hard work and self-sufficiency.
Rita is survived by her loving husband, Maynard, her son Gerald S. Morrison and his wife Sarah of Perry, daughters Wendy L. Morrison of Dickinson, Texas and Gale M. Morrison of Perry, and her three very special grandsons, Nathaniel, Bradley, and Benjamin Morrison of Sebago.
Rita is also survived by her brother Frank Morgan and his wife Judith of Brewer, sister in law Jane Morgan of Pembroke, brother in law Wayne Treagy of Hampden, brother in law Eldon Morrison and his wife Dianne of Yarmouth, sister in law Evelyn Morrison Brower and her husband George of Southbury, Connecticut, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her sister Louise Morgan and brothers William and Delman Morgan, and granddaughter Martha Kristina Morrison.

Visiting hours will be held 5-8 p.m. Thursday, September 10, 2015 at Mays Funeral Home – Flagg Chapel, 72 High St., Eastport. A celebration of Rita’s life will be held 1 p.m. Friday, September 11 at Perry Congregational Church, Shore Rd., Perry. Burial will follow in Restlawn Cemetery in Perry.
