Robert Clarke Amber, 62, passed away Sunday, February 19, 2023, at his home in Baileyville. Robert was born in St. Stephen, NB, on September 28, 1960.
After graduating from Woodland High School, Class of 1978, Robert attended Washington County Vocational Institute where he earned a degree in Carpentry. On August 14, 1980, he married his high school sweetheart, the love of his life, Cheryl Kneeland. Robert started his career with the local mills at the OSB Plant in Woodland, then Georgia Pacific, during a layoff, Robert went back to school where he earned a degree in Plumbing & Heating. He then went to work for VL Tammaro briefly, before he returned to the papermill industry and was employed with Woodland Pulp LLC at the time of his passing.
Robert loved woodworking and is known for making exquisite furniture pieces throughout his life. In addition to furniture, he enjoyed making cribbage boards, boxes, and custom signs. Robert was an avid reader and also enjoyed fishing and playing cards and video games. Above all else, his passion was his family. Robert loved spending time with his wife, children, and especially his grandchildren. His family will remember him by his love and witty sense of humor.
Robert was predeceased by his parents, Barbara and Barry McAlpine; and his father-in-law Norman Kneeland. Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Cheryl Amber of Baileyville; four children, Daniel Amber and wife Erica of Leesburg, FL, Nathan Amber and wife Laura of Baileyville, Emily Connors and husband Tom of Sabattus, and Jacob Amber and fiancé Caitlin Pieri of Swanville; five grandchildren, Alexis Rae, Scarlett Suzanne, Violett Ann, Tobias Clarke, and Baby Odin; sisters Katherine Amber of East Windsor, CT, and Chris McAlpine of Augusta; brother David McAlpine and wife Judy of Grand Lake Stream; mother-in-law Ida Kneeland; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dale and Betsey Kneeland, Norman and Ella Kneeland, Cindy Bailey, Bonnie and Andy Slater, David Kneeland, Bradley Bailey; many loved nieces and nephews; special friends Anna and Philip Marcum of Rockport; and his two feline companions Kalliope and Kalypso.
