Obituary for Robert F Baker

SOUTH STRAFFORD, Vt. Robert F. Baker, 77, died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008, in Lebanon, N.H. He was born in Calais and raised by his adoptive parents, Freeman and Doris Baker. He enlisted in the Air Force at age 16, and later served as a sergeant on the Eastport Police Department for a time. He then operated the Twighlight, a scallop boat in Eastport for several years before working as a remodeling contractor until retiring. They moved to South Strafford, Vt., in 1992 and have lived there since. He raced stockcars at many tracks throughout New England. He is survived by his wife; two sons, Louis Baker and Robert F. Baker Jr.; two daughters, Lucy Cook and Roberta Durocher; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; as well as two brothers, Freeman Baker and Gerald Baker; two sisters, Edna Mae McClullen and Carol Ham; several nieces and nephews.
