Edmunds – The family is deeply saddened to announce the death of Robert Clossey, 70, of Edmunds. Robert passed away with his family by his side on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.
Robert was born in Newport, New Hampshire, son of Lorena (Goodeill) Clossey. Robert went to school and grew up in Eastport where he worked very hard to take care of his beloved mother. In Eastport, he met the love of his life, Marilyn Kinney. After being married and two children, he started his long career as a bricklayer. His masonry skills can be seen throughout Washington County and beyond. He was very proud of his craft. He also worked as a clam digger and done some fishing. He was also very proud of his four grandsons. He enjoyed spending time with them all and looked forward to their visits. He loved his canine companions, one in particular, Brutus, his Labrador Retriever. Robert had many close friends and he touched the lives of many people.
In addition to his mother, Robert was predeceased by his two brothers, Russell and Harold Clossey; one sister, Bonnie Clossey Christie; and a special brother-in-law Daniel Galen. Surviving are his two children, Robert “Wayne” Clossey Jr. and his wife Kathy Smith of Dennysville, and Lorena “Lori” Clossey McLean and her husband David McLean of Eastport; four loving, adoring grandsons, Jesse Sutherland, Wayne Robert Clossey, Justin Clossey, and Mark Clossey, all of Dennysville; two very dear and special sisters, Barbara Clossey Galen of Veazie, and Peggy Boone of Brewer; one brother, David Clossey of Calais; many nieces and nephews; two very caring nieces, Susan Logan and Karen Cloutier; cousins Carlene Cook and Hollis Ferguson; special cousins in New Hampshire; a close brother-in-law Charles Kinney; life-long friend Albert Morang in New Hampshire; and close friends Jeff and Ruby Moore of Marion.
A summer burial will be held in Eastport at Hillside Cemetery on July 10, 2013. A service time will be announced at a later date. The family wishes to thank all the people at Stillwater Healthcare in Bangor for all their excellent care given to our Dad.
