Calais – Robert M. Redding, 92, passed away Thursday, September 24, 2009 at Atlantic Rehab & Nursing Center in Calais. Robert was born in Calais on August 23, 1917, son of the late Otis and Hattie (Fleming) Redding. He was a veteran of WWII, serving as an MP with the 352nd Fighter Squadron in England. Robert worked as a letter carrier for the US Postal Service in Calais for over 30 years. He was a member of Sherman Bros. Post #3 American Legion of Calais, St. Croix Country Club, St. Croix Bowling Club, and the Calais Rod & Gun Club. In addition to his parents, Robert was predeceased by his wife Ruth Redding; and his brother Otis Redding Jr. Surviving are his sister Margaret Talbot of Rockland; several nieces and nephews; and several grand nieces and grand nephews.
