Obituary for Roberta Beatrice Roy

Calais – Roberta Roy, 67, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home of 35 years in Calais. Bobbie was born in 1939 to Marjorie Larter Daggett and Philip Thomas Daggett in St. Stephen, N.B. She was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Benjamin A. Roy. Bobbie is survived by her seven children, Phil and Polly Roy, Rob and Debbie Roy, Michael Roy and friend Lisa, Tim Roy and Lynn Pirie, David and Dee Roy, Benjamin and Sue Roy, her youngest child, best friend and only daughter, Jodie Thomas and special son-in-law, Stephen Thomas. She is also survived by her siblings, Phyllis Campbell and husband Steve, Thomas Daggett and wife Maxine, Mary Dean of Florida, Mickey White and husband Michael, and her youngest sister, Cori LaPlant and husband Steve. Bobbie had many grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Her granddaughter, Amanda Roy and her great grandson, Steven Roy-Kaylor resided with her and held a very special place in her heart. Steven Roy-Kaylor was the light of her life. Amanda was not only her primary caregiver and granddaughter, but also her friend. She had many friends that she held dear to her heart, to name a few, Ellen and John Howe of Cooper and Leola Seelye of Calais. Bobbie watched the Animal Planet faithfully and possesses a great love for animals. She will be sadly missed by her dogs, Whitney and Chico. Bobbie, a devoted mother and wife, dedicated her life to her family. She was selfless, caring, compassionate, loving and giving. Her hobbies and passion were her children. She taught each and every one of her children to love unconditionally and taught each and every one of her children the importance of family and staying close. Bobbie was a fighter. She fought cancer and won, which is what she’d want other’s to do. Donations in her memory can be made to the American Cancer Society, One Main St., Suite 300, Topsham, ME 04086 and / or to P.A.W.S. Humane Society, PO Box 182, Calais, ME 04619. Friends may call 6 – 8 p.m. Thursday, January 18, at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais.
