Robi J. Socoby

Robi James “Scoob” Socoby, 42, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, April 16, 2023.  Robi was born in Bangor on November 29, 1980, son of Audrey Nicholas and Vincent Socoby.

Scoob graduated from Calais High School, Class of 1999, and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Maine at Machias.  Robi worked in various positions for several years until returning to school, earning his associate degree in electrical from Washington County Community College in 2022.  Throughout the years, Scoob enjoyed fishing for elvers. 

Robi was an avid outdoorsman and could often be found fishing, boating, or just going for rides in his truck while listening to music.  Scoob played basketball in school and college, and also enjoyed baseball and football.  Robi will be remembered for his smile, sense of humor, and his extravagant taste. 

Robi was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Patricia and Clayton Sockabsin; an aunt Ramona Nicholas; Godparents Ramona Soctomah and Edward Sockabasin; his father Vincent Socoby; sister Tonya Socoby; and his paternal grandparents Mary and Albert Socoby.  Surviving are his mother Audrey M. Nicholas and companion Steve Newell of Indian Township; brothers, Henry Socoby of Peter Dana Point, and Troy Socoby and companion Guillermo Pantoja of Miami, FL; a sister Tiffany Socoby of Indian Township; aunts and uncles, David and Glenna Nicholas of Peter Dana Point, Andrea and Edward Hanson of Alexander, Emily and Jeff Day of Martha’s Vineyard, MA, and Clayton Sockabasin and companion Kelly Lank of Peter Dana Point; niece and nephews, Dakota O’Neill, Brittany O’Neill, Vincent Socoby, and Joel Todd Hayward; special aunts Laura King and Regina Petit; special cousin Becky Bailey; and best friends, Nipawset Sabattus, George Sabattus, Mihku Sabattus, Al Nicholas Jr., Nathaniel Dana, and so many others.
