Obituary for Rodney Brent Scott

Baileyville – Rodney “Brent” Scott, 61, died Thursday, April 3, 2008 at Calais Regional Hospital. Brent was born in Calais on March 14, 1947, son of Gordon Scott and Winifred (Fickett) Hart. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. For many years Brent was employed as a millwright for Georgia Pacific. He married Mary McGuire in Baileyville on March 15, 1985. Brent enjoyed hunting, fishing, motorcycles and spending time with family and friends. He was predeceased by a son, Phillip Gordon Scott. Surviving are his loving wife of 23 years, Mary Scott; his father, Gordon Scott of Baileyville; his mother, Winifred Hart of Baileyville; one daughter, Janel Scott of Baileyville; two step-sons, G. Andrew Getchell of St. George, N.B., and Christopher Getchell and Patti Spens of Halifax, N.S.; a sister, Sharon Simpson and her husband David of Berwick; a brother, Francis Scott and his wife Annette of Baileyville; two granddaughters, Ashley and Ariel Glodowski of WI; a very special grandson, Dylan Chase Getchell of St. George, N.B.; his mother-in-law, Margaret McGuire of St. Andrews, N.B.; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends. A Celebration of Brent’s Life will be held at a later date. Donations in Brent’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, One Bowdoin Mill Island, Suite 300, Topsham, ME 04086.
