Eastport – Ronald Douglas White, 77, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at Calais Regional Hospital. He was born in Bangor on February 2, 1934 to Henry and Grace White.
Well known in Eastport as "The Bottle King", Ronald would use his hand cart to reclaim and recycle bottles and cans.
Ronald was very friendly and people knew him well as a kind and generous spirit. To a fault, he was helpful to all. He loved Country Western Music. Ronald lived his life as a gentle soul, with an always ready smile.
In addition to his parents, Ronald was predeceased by his aunt, Mary W. Dumais. Survivors include many cousins in Maine, Connecticut, and California. First cousin Roselle Killingbeck and son, Joseph, especially wish to thank the excellent staff at the Eastport Residential Care Facility where Ronald resided for many years.
In addition, the family extends their thanks to the many residents of Eastport who were very kind to "The Bottle King".
A graveside service at Bayside Cemetery is planned for late Spring.
