Ruth Ernestine Brown

CALAIS – Ruth Ernestine (Russell) Brown, 76, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2013 at a Machias Hospital. Ruth was born to Ernest and Christine Greenlaw on April 12, 1937 in Calais where she attended local schools and graduated from Calais Memorial High School. She was a hard worker, working for many years as a nurse’s aide at Barnard’s Nursing Home and Calais Regional Hospital. Ruth enjoyed playing bingo and bowling. She lived for her family, was a wonderful mother and wife and loved God. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Arthur Brown; sister Anna Brown and three nephews, Ernest, Kevin and Merty Brown and a granddaughter. Ruth is survived by her five children, Charles Russell of Calais, Darlene Bohanon and her husband Neal of Baring, Jeannine Marshall and her husband Dennis, Stephen Russell, all of Calais and Thomas Russell and his companion Rose of Jackson, NJ; brother-in-law, Mert Brown; her grandchildren, Neal Bohanon and his wife Tina, Nicholas Bohanon and his wife Erica MacFeat-Bohanon, Janice Marshall, Melissa Marshall, Shana Russell, Michael Steadman and his sister Jamie, and Angelia Russell ; great grandchildren Jasmyne, Brandon, Mia, Tyler, and Blake. Services will be held 1:00 p.m., Thursday, June 6th at Calais Cemetery with Pastor Arnet Mathers officiating. Services by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
