Ruth Lillian Canfield

Cooper – Ruth Lillian Canfield, 85, died Saturday, March 4, 2006 at Calais Regional Hospital. Ruth was born June 1, 1920 in Haddam Neck, CT, daughter of the late Curtis and Geneva (Hick) Palmer. She enjoyed gardening and raising orchids. Ruth was predeceased by her husband, Walter F. Canfield, her granddaughter, Sandy, a sister, Janet Woods, and two brothers, James Palmer and Philip Carpenter. Surviving are five children, Barbara Mikulski of Moodus, CT, Joan Dodge of Alexander, Robert Canfield and wife Kathie of Plainfield, CT, Richard Canfield and wife Tammy of Amston, CT, and Kathy Keen and husband Lance of Cooper; a sister, Barbara Ives of Portland, CT; fourteen grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a great-great granddaughter; many special nieces and nephews; and her special canine friend, Benji. A graveside service will be held in the Spring in Cooper. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais.
