Big Lake Township – Ruth Pratt Damon, 87, passed away peacefully February 20, 2016 at Calais Regional Hospital with her three children by her side. Ruth was born on October 24, 1928 to Earle and Mona (Glidden) Pratt in Princeton where she spent her childhood and attended school. Over the years she worked various jobs in the area including caring for many children, all of whom knew her as “Nana”. Ruth was also an airplane observer during the post Korean War era. She married Willis “Bill” Damon on February 14, 1948. Ruth enjoyed knitting, crocheting and playing cards but her days were inspired by the young members of her family as she watched them grow. In addition to her parents Ruth was predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Bill Damon; son, Roy Damon; two grandchildren, Jessica Kelley and Jarrod Damon and two brothers, William Hayes Pratt and Harold Pratt. She will be remembered by her three children, Ellen Carle and her husband Ernest of Big Lake Township, Deborah Kelley and her husband Ronald and Keith Damon and his companion Susan Storey, all of Princeton; a sister, Linda Carithers of IL; a brother, Wilbur Pratt and his wife Maybelle of FL; eight grandchildren, Kristina Richard and her husband Brad, Meredith McLaughlin and her husband Brian, Donna Netzer and her husband Jordan, David Damon, Dylan Damon, Hannah Damon, Nicole Howland and Amy Damon; eight great-grandchildren, Bailey and Bill Damon, Braden and Jacob Richard, Katherine and Emma Hiland and Ben and Rachel Netzer; the companion to her late son Roy, Sandra Draper-Hayward; many nieces, nephews, friends and her three special “daughters” Linda Phelps, Lori Pike and Trina James. A funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 24th at Mays Funeral Home, Calais with one hour of visitation just prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Committal will follow at Princeton Cemetery.
