Aunt Ruth, 96, passed away at her home in Big Lake Township, Maine with her niece and nephew by her side. She was born in Charlotte, Maine along with her twin brother, Billy (Willis) on June 8, 1927, to Roy and Edwina (Cambridge) Damon; she was number 5 of 10 children. She attended school in Charlotte and graduated from Dennysville High School in 1944; she and Billy were the first set of twins to graduate from that high school. She also attended Washington State Normal School in Machias. She moved to Massachusetts in 1947 and held various jobs, including working as an accountant/auditor at Westover Air Force Base. She married Alan Nuttall on June 25, 1949 and in 1974 she moved with her husband and son back to her beloved Charlotte and lived there until moving to Pennsylvania in 2010. She lived in Pennsylvania near her family until moving to Big Lake Township in August 2018.
Her faith has always been a major part of her life. She served the Lord in a Bible believing Church in each community she had the privilege to live in, including many years at Charlotte Baptist Church, before joining Sunrise Christian Church in Big Lake Township.
She loved reading and hearing God’s word; most of her reading were books by her many beloved Bible teachers and pastors. She exemplified a life for Christ; He was first and foremost in her life.
Ruth loved to help; she was a great cook, making hundreds of pies for people, special events, and her own family. She loved going thrifting and antiquing and she loved to knit, making hundreds of pairs of socks over the years for family members and friends as well. She loved to entertain and had meals for her siblings over the years in Charlotte. Music was a great passion of hers too. She loved going to Living Waters with her son and his family to hear the wonderful music and inspiring preaching they offered. She would sit in her chair at home these last years and listen to Gaither, George Beverly Shea, and others. She also loved animals and in her later years enjoyed giving the neighbor cat, Cleo, treats and a drink of milk. Her heart was blessed by the old hymns she grew up listening to. Her heart was even more blessed by her family; hearing from her family meant the world to her, and after moving to Big Lake Township, her world of children and grandchildren grew to include her twin brother’s family as well.
She was predeceased by her parents, her biological daughter, Linda Schreier, 8 siblings, nieces and nephews, and many friends.
She is survived by her son and his wife, David and Barbara Nuttall of Charlotte; sister Maybelle (Bucky) Pratt of Florida; granddaughters, Melissa (Jonathan) Barnett of Ohio and Cassandra Nuttall of Tennessee; son in law, Werner Schreier; grandchildren, Gretchen (Joe) Deutsch, Heidi (Brian) DiSante, Peter Schreier, and John (Michele) Schreier all of Pennsylvania; 9 great grandchildren and many friends; caregivers and niece, Ellen and Ernest Carle of Big Lake Township; and sister in law, Merna Damon of Charlotte.
Tears come at night, but joy comes in the morning. I love you Aunt Ruth; I’ll see you in the morning.
