Ruth Elaine Pierce Clark was born on July 1, 1941, in St. Stephen, New Brunswick, Canada, and passed away on September 10, 2023, in Calais, Maine, surrounded by family.

Ruth was a nursing assistant and then met handsome and charming Dick “Richie” Clark. They were married on September 8, 1960, and just celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary. After her marriage, she “retired” from being a nursing assistant and became a homemaker and shortly thereafter, a mom. She had a brief stint working at Shaw’s Supermarket in the bakery, decorating cakes and enjoying the shenanigans of her co-workers. She was a member of the Calais Garden Club and the Women’s Auxiliary Club. Her hobbies included gardening, doll collecting, bird watching as well as being an avid royal enthusiast.

She is survived by her husband Dick Clark, her brother Robert Pierce and his wife Patricia, and their daughters and families, Lori, Lianne, and Carla. She is also survived by her son Perry Clark and his wife Lynn and their children Patrick, Nick and Nathaniel; Mike Clark and his wife Erin and their children Josh, Emily, Leah and great-granddaughter Ava; and daughter Jane Hogue and her children Bethany and Michael. She is predeceased by her father Elwell Pierce, her mother Priscilla “Timmy” Pierce, and her brother Willard Pierce.

A celebration of life for Ruth will be held on June 15, 2024, at 11:00 am at the Calais Cemetery.  Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais.
