Eastport- Ruth J. (Cookson) Fales, 81, died June 25, 2008 at her home in Eastport. She was born in Calais, April 28, 1927 to Clifford L. and Ethel M. (Loring) Cookson. Educated in the Calais and Bangor school system and as a 1947 nursing graduate of Eastern Maine General Hospital she worked for 41 years as an R.N. in various hospitals throughout the United States. She was member of the Pythian Sisters, Eastport, ME.; Women of the Moose #1367, Winchester, Va., Ladies Auxiliary American Legion Post # 3, Calais, Me., and a lifetime member of the Auxiliary No. Mt. Volunteer Fire Co., Winchester, Va. She is survived by her son, Curtis L. Johnson and his wife Jacque of Machiasport, two grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, a brother John W. Cookson of Va., and a sister, Mary S. Zingg of Ca. Ruth was predeceased by her husband Sgt. Major William E. Fales, USMC. Graveside services for Ruth J. and William E. Fales will be announced at a later date.
