Princeton – Ruth Mae McLellan, 83, passed away Friday, August 22, 2014 at a Bangor hospital. Ruth was born in Baileyville on January 27, 1931, daughter of the late Robert and Harriet (Wilkins) Barter. After graduating from Woodland High School she became employed with St. Croix Paper Co. Forestry Division in Calais. On October 13, 1949, she married her love, Ernest McLellan. Ruth was transferred to the Woodland office where she was the secretary for the controller. In 1963 she moved to Connecticut to work in the Georgia Pacific headquarters where she was the secretary for the President of GP. Ruth retired from GP with 43 years of service. She enjoyed sewing and was proud to be able to make her own clothes. Ruth was a member of People’s United Methodist Church in Baileyville.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her two brothers, Robert and Francis. Surviving are her husband of almost 65 years, Ernest McLellan; a son, Jeffrey McLellan; sisters-in-law, Christie Barter, Gertrude Roberts, and Josephine Clark; and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, August 28, 2014 at South Princeton Cemetery. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
